The Indian National Cricket Team, commonly known as Team India, is overseen by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). They enjoy full membership in the International Cricket Council (ICC), which allows them to take part in Test Matches, One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty-20 Internationals (T20Is).
Team India boasts intense rivalries with several other cricketing nations, with its most notable ones being against Pakistan. Additionally, competitive relationships are cultivated with teams like Australia, South Africa and England.

The Indian Cricket team played its first official test match on 25th June 1932 at the famous Lord’s cricket ground in England. Indian cricket played the test match with just six layers which make it traditionally strong at home but not really making an impact on away tours.

India developed a more aggressive batting line-up with stroke makers such as Azharuddin, Dilip Vengsarkar and Ravi Shastri. In 1983, India went to defeat the favorites and two-time defending champions West Indies in the third ICC Cricket World Cup. This created a point in Indian Sporting history.
The end of the 80s and 90s witnessed the debuts of Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath, considered to be among the greatest Indian players and brought much glory for the country with their stellar contributions.
Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian men’s Cricket Team. He is popularly known as Hitman for his hard hitting skills, Rohit Sharma is a gifted batsman and an immensely talented cricketer who is pleasing on the eye with his elegance and ability to time the ball. Harmanpreet Kaur is the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team. She plays as an all rounder in the team and was was awarded the Arjuna Award for Cricket in the year 2017.

On 23rd June 2023, the selection committee declared only test matches and ODI matches squad. For the Test and ODI series, Rohit Sharma will lead the team. On 5th July 2023, the BCCI declared the Indian Team Squad for T20s, where Hardik Pandya will lead the team.

India’s upcoming matches are typically determined by the International Cricket Council through its future tours program. However, the BCCI, leveraging its substantial financial influence in the cricketing realm, has frequently contested the ICC’s program. The Board has advocated for more series involving high-revenue teams like India, Australia, and England, contrasting with tours featuring teams such as Bangladesh or Zimbabwe. Instances of conflict between the BCCI and the ICC have also arisen in the past, particularly concerning sponsorships.
In Test cricket matches, the Indian team dons the traditional cricket whites, complemented by navy blue caps and helmets. In limited-overs matches, such as ODIs and T20s, the team sports uniforms with varying shades of blue. These outfits may also incorporate a splash of colors reflecting those present in the Indian national flag.
